Mallee
The Mallee region in Victoria’s North West offers something for everyone - from national parks, picturesque red earth surrounds, and a thriving local arts scene, to the mighty Murray river on your doorstep and restaurants, wineries, cafes, and farmers markets showcasing locally produced ingredients. 

Mildura, the largest city in the region and a rapidly growing municipality is complimented by several neighbouring communities including Red Cliffs, Merbein, Irymple, Ouyen, Swan Hill and Murrayville.  

One of Australia’s largest regional art hubs, Mildura is renowned for events like the Mildura Summer Music Festival, the Mildura Country Music Festival and the Mildura Writers Festival.  

The Mallee region also offers the natural wonder of the Perry Sandhills and the World Heritage-listed Mungo National Park where you can see Aboriginal sites dating back 50,000 years, preserved in a breathtaking landscape. 

If sport is more your style, Mildura boasts 32 world class grass courts at the Mildura Lawn Tennis Club, one of Australia’s leading tennis venues. You’ll find an abundance of other sport and recreation facilities across the region, including a wave pool at the state-of-the-art Mildura Waves Aquatic and Leisure Centre. 

The Mallee also offers the warmest climate in Victoria - the winters are mild, and the summers are dry and sunny! 

Liveability  

The Mallee is rich with cultural, heritage, sporting, and foodie indulgences. The region offers a sunny and active lifestyle, with great schools and diverse employment options.  

Mildura has an affordable median house price compared to other major regional Victorian cities and metropolitan Melbourne. The median price for a three-bedroom home in the area is a very reasonable $317,000. 

Travel to and from the area is also easy and accessible - Mildura is home to Victoria’s busiest regional airport with multiple daily flights direct to Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. 

There is a broad range of education services to choose from including TAFE and University campuses.  

Family Violence employers  

  • Mallee Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Service’s provide services for women, men and children. Centre-based sexual assault and family violence services are provided in Mildura (24 hour response). Services are also provided flexibly and on-demand in Robinvale, Ouyen, Mallee Track, Dareton, Wentworth and Balranald. 
  • Mallee Accommodation and Support Program is a community based organisation with a history of over 30 years of service provision to youth, adults and families. 
  • Sunraysia Community Health Services takes a holistic approach to the needs of clients and the community with an emphasis on continuous quality improvement and excellence in service delivery based on the principles of collaborative primary care. 
  • Mallee District Aboriginal Services is north west Victoria’s major service provider for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, providing health, family, early years and wellbeing services. 
Other employment opportunities in the Mallee include courts, refuges, state government, local council and community health services, educational institutions and legal services.
