What You Will Be Doing

As a result of boost funding, an exciting opportunity exists for a Men's Family Violence Services Intake Worker to work within the Men's Family Violence team.

The work is primarily focused on the assessment and triaging of referrals for the Men's Family Violence team, and will be based in the Orange Door in Frankston, but may be asked to work at other Bayside Peninsula sites. Regular clinical support and a developed team structure are features of the role.

Key Responsibilities

This position assesses and triages referrals delivering active and timely referral responses in accordance with No To Violence Guidelines. This role specifically provides:
• Manage the intake of referrals, coordinating their assessment, and triaging according to priority guidelines, together with the rest of the Support and Safety Hub team.
• Liaise with relevant agencies and workers both within the Support and Safety Hub, as well as external to the Support and Safety Hub, in order to build safety and timely responses to families affected by family violence.
• Ensure effective and appropriate, clinically informed support and service options are provided to clients at all times.
• Promote and practice respectful relating and non-violence
• Demonstrate positive workplace behaviours and relationships at all times.
• Build and expand personal skill levels and ensure that clients receive service reflecting up to date, evidence based professional practice.

About the opportunity

As part of our Southern Division Leadership Team, the Principal Strategic Advisor (PSA) works closely with a cross-sector partnership to develop, enhance and implement integrated responses to family violence at a local level. The PSA plays an important role in facilitating the development of relationships and partnerships between regional family violence services and other key stakeholders across the child and family, health, criminal justice and legal systems.

About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate practitioner to join our Crisis and Homelessness Services Program. The position is part time 30 hours per fortnight, and initially maximum term to 1 December 2022. There is flexibility to work 2 full days per week or 3 shorter days per week.

The Men's Family Violence Worker provides risk assessment, crisis intervention and case management support to male perpetrators of family violence. The role ultimately aims to keep women and children safe, support the perpetrator to take responsibility for their actions, and assist them to develop strategies to end their use of violence. The worker will also assist clients with sourcing accommodation and referrals to relevant support services where required.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description including having a diploma or degree qualification in a field related to Social Work, Community Services or Welfare Work. Qualifications specific to male family violence will be highly advantageous.

You will also have:

• Sound understanding of the dynamics of family violence and its impact on women and children
• Demonstrated experience working with perpetrators of family violence and/or clients with particularly complex needs
• Highly developed risk assessment and intervention skills
• Proven ability work collaboratively with other programs and services to achieve optimal outcomes for clients

The role involves the provision of an in-home family casework service, working in partnership with families with the aim of strengthening parenting capacity and family functioning and therefore improve child outcomes. To Be Successful In This Position You Will Need

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Specialist and/or a related degree in behavioural sciences with experience in the relevant service stream;
• Demonstrated resilience to work with and support clients who have been exposed to trauma, violence or neglect;
• Demonstrated awareness and commitment to working within the ‘Best Interest Principles’ outlined within the Child, Youth and Families Act 2005 and a sound understanding of the Victorian Child Protection system;
• Demonstrated experience working with families who have multiple and complex needs, utilising a child-focused family-centred approach;
• Demonstrated understanding and application of individual and systemic theories which underpin effective in-home family based interventions;
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders to reach the best outcomes for children, young people and families, including a demonstrated awareness of the Child Information Sharing Scheme, the Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme and the MARAM Framework.
• Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office packages and other statistical databases such as IRIS.

An exciting opportunity exists for an NDIS Counsellor to work within the Community Health team. This is a permanent part time position of 60.8 hours per fortnight, located at the Community Health Centre sites on the Mornington Peninsula. Staff may be required to work across other Community Health sites to meet program needs. The work is varied with a mixture of individual and group work. Regular clinical support and a developed team structure are features of the role.
